Come and join us for Full Moon Feast, the second of our Fire and Stars series, celebrating the Full Moon with Jupiter and Saturn in close proximity. A night of food cooked over fire served under the moon at the historic Ballarat Observatory.
A night of mulled wine, forest walks, bouillabaisse served from a cauldron, wines from Pyrenees maker Summerfield, Western Districts eel and Western Plains porchetta off the grill, a chance to see the moon through a century old telescope, hear about the comet that people thought signalled an extra-terrestrial visitation, explore the beautiful historic buildings housing telescopes that were the cutting edge technology of the late 1800s. Finish with sweet dumplings from the fire.
Rug up, wear your best outdoors boots, this is a casual, fun, intriguing and delicious night at the Ballarat Observatory with tours by astronomical experts, stories by award winning writer Richard Cornish, food from the fires by Peter Ford and the ethereal songs of singer Sallie Harvey.
