Observing the South Solstice

December 22, 2023 @ 13:00 - 14:30

Friday 22st December

12.30pm – 1.15pm AEDT (+11hrs UT)  In person and Online Presentation

1.15 – 2.230pm AEDT  Outside Observation, safe viewing of Sun and Afternoon Tea in person.

Why do we still call this celestial event “Winter Solstice” in Apps?
It is time to change the nomenclature  to reflect the global village we now live in.
Not everyone experiences Winter at the same time.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere we are experiencing  Summer.
If you live at the equator you use the words wet or dry for the seasons??

Would you like to learn more about the South Solstice and how it happens, why we have seasons, equinoxes and how to find your way about the night sky?

It is time to change these terms.

A Pdf file will be available to explain the suggested changes to reflect our Global Village.

If it is cloudy we can be inside for a talk and Q&A. Refreshments included.

Bookings in Person – Includes Refreshments
